Way Kambas National Park

Way Kambas National Park is representative of lowland forest ecosystems are composed of freshwater swamp forests, grasslands / scrub, and coastal forests in Sumatra.

 Plant species in national parks, among other fires (Avicennia marina), Pidada (Sonneratia sp.), Palm (Nypa fruticans), Gelam (Melaleuca leucadendron), salam (Syzygium polyanthum), mire (Glochidion borneensis), ketapang (Terminalia cattapa), casuarina (Casuarina equisetifolia), pandan (pandanus sp.), puspa (Schima wallichii), meranti (Shorea sp.), oil (Dipterocarpus gracilis) and ramin (Gonystylus bancanus).

 Way Kambas National Park has 50 species of mammals including Sumatran rhinoceros (sumatrensis sumatrensis Dicerorhinus), Sumatran elephant (Elephas maximus sumatranus), Sumatran tiger (Panthera tigris sumatrae), tapir (Tapirus indicus), jackal (Cuon alpinus sumatrensis), gibbon (Hylobates syndactylus syndactylus); 406 forest bird species including ducks (Cairina scutulata), yarn and clothing stork (Ciconia episcopus stormi), herons barrels (Leptoptilos javanicus), sempidan blue (Lophura ignita), pheasants (Argusianus argus argus), pecuk snake (Anhinga melanogaster); various types of reptiles, amphibians, fish, and insects.


Wild elephants are trained at the Elephant Training Center (9 miles from the gate signpost Ijo) can be used as elephant riding, attractions, transport timber and plow the fields. At the elephant training center, can be educate and train the trainer seen a wild elephant, see the attraction of elephants playing football, dancing, shaking hands, respectful, draping flowers, tug of war, swimming and many other attractions.

Elephant training center was established in 1985. To date has managed to educate and tame elephants about 290 birds.

 Cultural attractions outside the park: Krakatau Festival in July in Bandar Lampung. The best visiting season: July / d September each year. 

How to reach the location: Bandar Lampung-Metro-Way Jepara using the car for about two hours (112 miles), Metro-Branti-Way Jepara approximately one hour 30 minutes (100 km), Bakauheni-Long-Way-Sribawono Jepara about three hours (170 km), Bakauheni-Labuan-Way Kambas Meringgai about two hours.
